Firefighter 1

This course is a 14-16 week program designed to give the student the foundational knowledge and fundamental firefighting skills (hose handling, ventilation, search and rescue, suppression techniques, etc), safety, hazmat awareness, department operations, and communication to prepare them for the International Fire Service Accreditation of Congress (IFSAC) and ProBoard certification meeting the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1001 & 470 standards. This course is delivered through classroom learning, practical drills, and various hands-on evolutions.

This program is 240+ hours long and is limited to a maximum of 30 recruits per academy.

Due to the length and complexity of this course this is offered only 1-2 times a year, or as consulting services for those wishing to host their own academy with assistance in program design, administrative paperwork, curriculum scheduling, course execution, and IFSAC/ ProBoard testing for certification.

The delivery of this course is paramilitary with motivational instruction, physical training (PT), and a strong presence of structure and discipline. Cadre members are instructed to use loud diaphragmatic voices so that all recruits can hear, and learn from each other.
