Hazardous Materials (Awareness & Operations)

This course is a 4 week program designed to give the student the foundational knowledge and fundamental skills to deal with Hazardous Materials incidents and to prepare them for the International Fire Service Accreditation of Congress (IFSAC) and ProBoard certification meeting the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 470 standards. This course is delivered through classroom learning, practical drills, and various hands-on evolutions.

This program is 60+ hours long and is limited to a maximum of 30 recruits per academy. In most cases, this course is embedded into the Firefighter 1 course.
