Rural Water Supply: Drafting & Relay
This course walks attendees through the rural water supply considerations and operations. We go over the volume of water supply hoses use and how that impacts the amount of water you may deliver to the primary pumper, while also considering the weight of water being applied to a structure and its’ impact on potential structural collapse. We address drafting operations using various methods, including the use of jet siphons. We also address relay pumping. This course integrates both classroom and hands-on field application supplying lines and allowing the Pump Operator to apply their knowledge to practical evolutions.
This course is a 24-32+ hour course.
Attendees should have a good understanding of pump operations and friction loss prior to attending this course.
Many of these topics and concepts are from Andy Soccodato and Water Thieves and Fire Service Hydraulics and Pump Operations.
